Mobile technology has become a gigantic part of the sport world. Every major and even some minor league sports organizations utilize mobile technology. Whether it’s the NFL using Microsoft Surface tablets on the sidelines of their games to the NCAA using mobile apps for the March Madness tournament brackets. All the major sports leagues like the MLB, NFL, NBA, NCAA, and even smaller leagues like the XFL all stream their games and programs through mobile apps. Even international leagues such as the English Premier League us ether own streaming services for their soccer games.
The NFL is probably the biggest example of a sports organization using mobile technology. They stream on NBC. ESPN, Bleacher Report, the NFL app, Fox Sports, Twitter, Yahoo, and a few others. They have million and billion dollar deals in place with these companies for the rights to play NFL programing. For example the NFL-Amazon deal is worth $130 million just for the rights to play Thursday night games (which are the least popular games of the week). The NFL also takes full advantage of social media to promote its teams, players, events, and games.
